About the event
In a remarkable celebration of his evolution as an artist, the KIAN Foundation presents a unique retrospective that traces the trajectory of Milind Mulick’s art over the past 30 years, marking his first solo exhibition in Mumbai in two decades. KIAN Foundation from Pune brings the Mumbai audience a rare opportunity to view previously undisplayed works by his father, renowned illustrator Pratap Mulick.
Our curator, Aarti Naik, envisions Reflections as a deeply personal and contemplative exhibition to unravel the influences that create great artists and the influences and inspirations guiding them. Her distinctive approach to a retrospective show celebrates not only the artist but his mentor, analysing the master and his muse across different time periods.
Like the gentle unfolding of a watercolor masterpiece, each brushstroke gracefully with another to reveal a vivid image, Milind Mulick’s profound command of the medium has been honed over decades of dedicated practice. This artistic journey, rich with patience and introspection, was profoundly influenced by the creativity that surrounded his childhood, particularly that of his father, Pratap Mullick. Renowned for his work as an illustrator and comic book artist on the beloved Amar Chitra Katha series, Pratap left an indelible mark on young Milind. While he does not recall specific lessons from his father, the instinctive mimicry of his father’s strokes ignited a flame of creativity within him.
