About the event
Held over a vibrant weekend, Asva, an evocative art exhibition presented by the KIAN Foundation, brought to life the kinetic energy and elegance of equestrian sports through the expressive works of renowned artist M Narayan. A proud alumnus of Ken School of Art, Bengaluru, Narayan has long been captivated by the power, grace, and symbolism of horses—particularly those central to the sport of polo. His latest collection, including the striking acrylic piece Spirit of Asva, was the centerpiece of the show and a testament to his lifelong connection with equine forms.
Curated and hosted at KIAN Foundation’s thoughtfully designed gallery space in Baner, the exhibition stood as more than just a display of art—it was a cultural statement. With a mission to amplify voices in contemporary Indian art and spotlight unique perspectives, the Foundation played a pivotal role in conceptualizing and bringing this vision to life. Their commitment to curatorial excellence and community engagement enabled an immersive experience for art lovers, collectors, and equestrian enthusiasts alike.
KIAN Foundation not only provided a platform for Narayan’s latest explorations in acrylic, oil, watercolour, charcoal, and dry pastel but also helped frame the larger narrative of polo as a sport of elegance and exclusivity. Narayan’s work, rich in compositional structure and vibrant in its use of colour, offered a poetic contrast between the dynamic world of the polo field and the stillness of the canvas.
Asva was a compelling convergence of artistic mastery and curatorial intent—an exhibition that successfully translated the spirit, strength, and sophistication of horses into a visual language both timeless and deeply contemporary
